Amy Kay
Director, Child Development Lab at the McPhaul Center
Bio
I have been the director of the Child Development Lab (CDL) at the McPhaul Center at the University of Georgia for the past seventeen years. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Development/Early Childhood Education, a Master’s degree in Elementary Education, and a Doctorate in Language and Literacy Education. I have experience teaching at the preschool, elementary, and college levels. Prior to my administrative position at the CDL, I was a classroom teacher for thirteen years—three years with 2-year olds, five years with PreK, and five years with Kindergarten. I currently serve on the Athens Technical College Early Childhood Care and Education Program Advisory Committee, have been on the GAEYC Board for five years, and am on the Board of Directors for the National Coalition of Campus Children’s Centers (N4C). I have chaired conference committees for GAEYC and N4C and continue to present at and attend state and national conferences including GAEYC, N4C, NAEYC, and SECA. I strive to be a mentor to others in education and thoroughly enjoy teaching and leading adult learners. Email Amy.
