Candidate Statement

I'm passionate about teaching young children within a learning environment and working collaboratively with others to impact and make a difference for ALL children. My name is Britne McDuffie. I am from McRae, Ga. I have received an associate degree in Early Childhood Education from East Georgia State College (2016) and a bachelor's degree in Child and Family Development from Georgia Southern University (2018). I recently received my master's degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology from Capella University (July 2021).
As a young child, I have always had a passion for working with young children in a classroom setting. Nothing is more exciting than seeing children conquer new milestones. Each day is a new adventure filled with new things to discover and learn. My goal is to provide a welcoming and encouraging diverse learning experience that motivates each child’s social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development.
Those who work around me knows I strive within a leadership role. I possess qualities of a leader. I have worked along aside administrators, teachers, and early childhood faculty and feel that I have proven to be a co-leaner and support rather than an evaluator. I would love to be a part of this amazing organization. As an young early childhood educator who is beginning her professional journey, I believe more educators, teachers, and others who work with children need to be more educated on equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Bio

My name is Britne McDuffie. I am from McRae, Ga. I recently received my master's degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology from Capella University (July 2021). I continued my work with young children after my internship by becoming the lead teacher in the Toddler Two classroom at Georgia Southern Child Development Center (five years now). As a lab school teacher, my role is to serve as a role mole and mentor to students who are working towards their degree in child development. I have had the pleasure of presenting at several conferences on meeting the development needs of toddlers within a classroom setting (Ex: Southern Conference on Children, GAEYC, National Black Child Development Institute Annual Conference (NBCDI), and Black Child Development Institute: Summit on Children. I have also had the pleasure of serving as the Child Development Center (CDC) teacher representative on the CDC Director Search Committee, where I participated in conversations with the committee and the interviews.
In 2020, I was awarded the Stellar Student Award. The Stellar Student award is for a current Black Child Development Institute: BCDI-Atlanta college student (undergraduate or graduate) who demonstrates remarkable community leadership and advocacy in one of our six focus areas and is deemed a productive scholar. I’m currently apart of BCDI-Atlanta Board of Directors. November 2019, I became a State Approve Trainer for Georgia. I’m currently working towards a child care director credential.
